Leather 2 Feather (for sale)

These two end/side tables were rescued from a home clean out. Leather top tables were popular in the 19th century and sought after as status pieces. Now they’re considered dumpster weight. These had a veneer on the sides and back that I removed and replaced by decoupaging a funky feather scarf that was my niece’s. I kept the legs natural wood because whatever inlay they used back then doesn’t sand off and I just loved the look on those pin legs.

Dimensions -

Color Palette - #Rustoleumblackmilkpaint; mutli-color feather; polycrylic matte finish; Agate stone knobs

Vintage Locked Safe with inner Shelves (for sale)

Not quite sure if this was a smoking cabinet to keep pipe smoking materials of past. Perhaps it could be for pipe smoking materials of today. Either/or it locks and is painted in a Benjamin Moore specially mixed color stolen from my Niece’s breakfront.

Christine’s curio (for sale)

This curio cabinet has been in my family over 40 years and in my childhood friend’s for years prior to that. There are at least 1,000 hand cut wooden skewers (because buying sheets of textured wood would be too easy). My vision was a combination of cherry red and grays and I love how it turned out. I added chicken wire because one piece of glass was taken out by someone one wheeling in my house.

Dimensions -

Color Palette - #farmhouse cabinet; cherry red; #Generalfinishesqueenstown; #Generalfinishesseagull;

1908 Writing desk (for sale)

This 115 year old (because it says 1908) mahogany writing desk got a facelift. Everything made then was for function and was stained the signature dark red mahogany color. If this piece could talk…. Well, he/she/they was totally stripped down to the bleed through stain and hopefully I brought into this century with some pop of color.

Color Palette: #Generalfinishesmilkpaintpersianblue; Savvy decopauged with a fun tropical wrapping paper in all hues of blue/turquoise/green with leaf knobs

Checkers anyone? (for sale)

Leather top tables were popular from the early 1900-50’s. I’m guessing these showed wealth status because I never saw any in my grandparent’s homes. As beautiful as the leather and embossing was on this, I removed the leather and sheened it up with white, gray, silver, gold metallics.

Color Palette: #Generalfinishesalabaster; Savvy’d gold and metallics.

QE2 gets a facelift (for sale)

Another Ethan Allen cherry wood piece with the Queen Anne legs that got an overhaul makeover with white, beige, gold, and black. I have to admit, these pieces are a dream to paint. The workmanship and wood is smooth as silk.

Mackenzie-childs-style nightstands (for sale)

Rock maple….all the rage for newlyweds in the early 1950’s with those bat wing drawer pulls. These babies are solid. I will spend days looking a piece of furniture deciding what it was going to be. These had so much potential for some fun painting, so this is what they became.

Color Palette: #Generalfinishesalabaster; #Generalfinishesqueenstowngray; #Generalfinishessegullgray and of course Savvy’d gold

Black ‘n Gold ‘n Bamboo (for sale)

A lot of #Krudkutter and elbow grease, unearthed a beautiful leather top on this side table. Tables this age can be solid wood along with decorative veneer. The veneer on the sides was either missing or damaged. I replaced it all with a disassembled bamboo placement and created some fun drawer pulls to match.

Dimensions -

Color palette - #Rustoleummilkpainteclipse; gold leaf

old glory (for sale)

Asides from this table being solid wood, it had nothing going for it. The legs were wobbly and not even worthy of a coat of paint. Now it’s an awesome American Flag with industrial pipe legs.

Grain sack drop leaf table (for sale)

I love this table. It’s perfect for a small kitchen or serving table as it can be placed flush up against a wall and the leaf extended. The second leaf was broken but like everything, it still has a purpose. The whole piece was completely stripped; the top was streaked with a white wash with a gray wash over it. Grain stripes added for a pop of color and the legs are painted in 3-tone down Savvy’d Robin’s egg blue.

Dimensions -

Color Palette - #Generalfinishesmilkpaint; polycrylic sealant

Small Parquet Tables (for sale)

Parquet is wooden blocks laid in a geometric pattern. These small tables were locked up in a basement to die. Alas, they were cleaned, sanded and given a second chance to be re-homed. There was the 3-legged third I kept around in case I needed replacement blocks. The tops were white washed (because no one likes brown wood these days) with a geometric gold leaf square; the sides in alabaster white with gold leaf stencils; the legs in a dark gray.

Dimensions -

Color palette - #Generalfinishesqueenstown; #Generalfinishesalabaster; #rubnbuff gold

Nautical coffee table (for sale)

This big boy is looking for a large space with people who enjoy playing games (8 deep drawers worth) and love nautical. The topcoat and stain were all stripped off, the handles were all drilled out and replaced with juke roping; handles patinaed; the brass edging buffed. The top and drawer fronts are done in a grey/white wash technique. The sides are adorned with a compass rose in keeping with the theme and stenciled drawer sides.

Emerald side table (for sale)

This sweet, light as a feather table was an abandoned piece at the Swap Shop. It got a good cleaning and stripping and painting in a Savvy’d recipe of green with decoupage sides with a little gold because emeralds and gold are a great combination especially in jewelry.

Dimensions -

Color palette - #Generalfinishesemerald; #Generalfinisheswestminster; #rubnbuff gold

Grass cloth side table (for sale)

Although I enjoy creating some funky-looking furniture and playing with colors, apparently, the generation purchasing homes are decorating in only neutrals. That said, white legs, grasscloth top and sides. Simple. Clean. Neutral.

Dimensions -

Color Palette - white; gold grasscloth; polycrylic sealed

the basement Mirror (for sale)

This mirror has been in my basement for more years than I care to admit. I finally schlepped it up, took it apart, and gave it a facelift. Painted in alabaster white with dark gray in the carvings; I also stripped some of the mirror paint off the back to give it a different personality. After all, when looking in a mirror, depending on the day, which personality will shine through for you?

Dimensions -

Color Palette - #Generalfinishesalabaster; #Generalfinishesqueenstown; polycrylic sealed.

she didn’t sell the sea shells mirror (for sale)

Another basement mirror unearthed. Who doesn’t love a beautiful mirror? It was the dead of winter, so I broke out my bag of collected shells from over the years I gathered in tropical climates, gave them a little extra color to spice them up and added them to this mirror.

Dimensions:

Color palette: Soft metallic blue and silvery white

window view (for sale)

What to do with an old window and sill? Make it into a mirror with 4-season clam shells. I recycle everything I can. There were the oddest openings in between each window pane, so I filled them with a green bamboo tomato plant stakes. That sparked the idea to hang something from them …..thus, the 4-season decoupaged shells. When it isn’t your season, simply turn the shell to the natural side.

a mermaid tail (SOLD)

What do you do with another cherry wood (so out). You create an ombre effect using all shades of blues, greens and turquoise. Add a little bit of crystals into the paint, a two-tone polycrylic stripe effect. And, voila. A fun and whimsical conversation piece.

From Sea to Sea (GIFT)

This rocking chair was a roadside rescue from Cape Cod. The owners left their name and number on the back. After it was stripped and painted to match a special little incoming baby boy’s bedroom, it relocated to Myrtle Beach, SC. His owner is Cooper. The previous owners got a big thank you and a photo of their daughter’s recycled rocker. #yourjunkissomeoneelsestreasure

Color Palette - #Generalfinishesmilkpaintchinablue and snow white; polycrylic top coat.

Toy Story Themed rockinghorse (GIFT)

This abused rocking horse was used for darts or BB gun target practice at a college rental house. After being fostered, he received a good amount of wood filler, repairs, sanding, a paint job and leather saddle & horse mane. The cloud stencil was created out of what was our dog’s cone head. Facial features credited to my brother, Jeff Saverine. This guy has been re-homed for an incoming baby boy due on Halloween.

Color Palette: #Generalfinishesmilkpaint in white and Savvy’d cloud hue; #Generalfinishessnowwhite

eliza’s very own stool (GIFT)

This little stool was destined for a dumpster in a home clearance. TLC was an understatement. It’s hand painted with all Savvy mixed colors to match the adorable wallpaper from my great niece’s room that is decopauged on the sides. This was a baby gift for a little sister who has twin older sisters.

Color Palette - #Generalfinishesmilkpaint Savvy’d up with a polycrylic top coat.

Little Dillys (GIFT)

What do you do with the old step stool/seat that your grown children used to wash their filthy hands in the bathroom 30+ years ago? You recycle it for your dear friend’s little grandsons.

Color Palette: American Flag #Generalfinishesholidayred; #Generalfinisheschinablue; #Generalfinishessnowwhite

The soup kitchen (KEEPER)

This is the sweetest table I inherited from a beautiful soul who lost her battle with depression. This needed to be special; and it is. After stripping and painting, I had my house plans my own Father drew 31 years ago printed and expoxied over them with a little prayer I found in his keepsakes after he passed away January 2023. He referred to my home as the “soup kitchen.” Open to anyone who needed anything…an ear, a meal, a bed, but most especially a cocktail. In memory of two incredibly special souls.

Miami vice rolling bar (KEEPER)

“Antiqued” Moss green and chunky trim apparently were all the rage in the 50’s & 60’s. Gone. My 93 year old Father taught me how to use a sawzall and lose that bottom trim that weighed 50 lbs alone. This was PAINSTAKINGLY stripped. Every crevice of those 40 clubs. FOR. HOURS. This is a keeper for me because I doubt many have my taste in emerald green, flamingo pink, palm tree wallpaper and big ‘ole recycled glass curtain rod ornaments. And! It has motion detector lights for nighttime liquor search.

Color Palette: Savvy paint mixed colors

Old coal stove (KEEPER)

Another childhood resurrection piece. If my memory serves me, there was a for-looks-only white milk glass ashtray that nested in the middle of the top. Now this pieces houses my Father’s Hole-In-One Fern.

Divorcee’s coffee table (DONATION)

A good deed coffee table that was stripped and gray washed with an added checkerboard for Wednesdays/every other weekend visitation of the kiddos.

Seaglass table (GIFT)

What can you do with an OVER-DECOPAUGED-BY-CHILD stool and an outdated metal tray. You upcycle it into a meaningful little table as a shower gift. The starfish was my sister-in-law’s who passed away and the table was for her son and future daughter-in-law’s shower. The seaglass was from my collection over the years. I spray painted the metal table with rustoleum seaglass and arranged all the seaglass and gave it a good coat of epoxy to seal the deal. The bottom shelf was created by thin juke roping.

takes a licking… (KEEPER)

Talk about “things don’t last like they used to!” This was my parents clock in their kitchen for years. My Mother’s been gone 25, and this thing keeps on ticking. Found an old street map of my side of the hood and re-faced it and painted it black. Always remember where you came from.

Dimensions - Doesn’t matter, you can’t have it.

Color Palette - Black & white - no grey areas

Jenny’s old lazy susan (KEEPER)

An obsolete and outdated item, BUT when you’re part Italian and feed the masses, it comes in real handy so you don’t have to go fetching the salt, the pepper, the red crushed pepper flakes, the parmesano, the napkins for the inevitable greazy sauce spills. And! Very beneficial during the obligatory holiday season. It can be a spinning tray equipped with with xanax, prozac, and rolaids. So, Is Susan really lazy?

By the way, it was stained brown with parchment baskets stenciled on it. Hard no.

miss p’s 1920’s recliner (keeper)

Miss P was a legend in our town. She was born and raised here. She was the first flight nurse. She was from the Greatest Generation. She was my neighbor, on my paper route, a must on my Halloween route. She had wisdom beyond. She passed in November prior to the pandemic lockdown. What I’d give to pick her brain on that whole shitstorm. A woman who treated polio patients without a vaccine. This is the piece I wanted from her estate. It’s a meticulously kept 1920 “recliner.” In other words, it leans back. That’s it. Pat was dusty rose all the way. I’m whatever personality surfaces that day. I painted it persimmon orange….because you CAN paint upholstery. I know because I did it. It’s my favorite chair. Thanks Miss P.

Mermaid coat rack (KEEPER)

Like I said in my brief biography, I began refurbishing my own pieces to add a twist to my future beach house. This was one of them. This piece is way over 100 years old because it was acquired by my immigrant Polish grandfather who worked as a domestic for an estate in Greenwich, CT. I clocked 40 hours stripping the eggshell white oil paint, then the layer of lead paint, then the toxic gooey varnish underneath that. I no sooner cut through one layer, SURPRISE! a NEW LAYER OF TOXIC WASTE.

After staring at it, all the intricate carvings, the amount of time spent on getting it to that point, I went full out Mermaid colors to bring it to life. I couldn’t even tell you the colors because I mixed my own pinks, turquoise, greens, blues, metallics, gold.
